Let's explore an off-the-beaten track destination in Central Asia - 🇺🇿 Uzbekistan! Known as one of the "stan" countries, this was the crossroads of the famous 🌶️ Spice and 🧵 Silk Roads. We will visit five distinct regions to learn about their 📚 rich history, 🎭 unique culture and the influence of various religions. Since its 1991 split into independence, Uzbekistan has emerged into a 💰 regional economic force and ✈️ an emerging travel destination. But its strong roots remain in the ⚔️ ancient world of Alexander the Great, 🏹 Genghis Khan and other 👑 notable historical figures. With its ornate palaces built on Silk Road profits to its traditional teahouses, there is great diversity in a small country. Our time in 🏛️ Nukus will highlight the 🎪 folkloric customs and traditions of the remote 🏜️ Karakalpakstan region. Our visits to the stunning palaces in 🕌 Khiva and Samarkand will highlight the superb craftsmanship of artisans, while in 🏛️ Bukhara we will share dinner with a 🕯️ Jewish family.

Good mobility is critical since we will be walking every day (average 2-3 miles) on uneven, cobblestone streets and in ancient sites with loose footings and steps. If you are unable to maneuver through a major airport without wheelchair or cart assistance this journey would be challenging and you may not be able to fully participate in all activities.
